Endurance Program
Fall Endurance 2025
This program is designed to get you out the door, putting one foot in front of the other. Whether you are wrapping up or just starting your running/walking journey, this training group is for you. With amazing camaraderie, group motivation, and training consistency, you will find yourself achieving more than you could ever imagine.
Join the Monroe County YMCA Endurance Training Group for fun, safety (in groups), and happiness. Programming is designed to get you to the 5K, 10K, and beyond start line.

Half-Marathon Training 2025
- All levels of runners/walkers welcome; no one gets left behind
- Coaching to improve running/walking economy
- Training lengths of 5K, 10K, 13 miles & 26.2 miles
- Resistance training weekly, specialized for runners and walkers
- Program does not include half marathon race registration

Tues – walks/runs, 6-7:30pm
Thurs – walks/runs, 6-7:30pm
Sat – walks/runs, 8am

Half-Marathon Training 2025- AGES 14-16
- Youth ages 14 – 16 are welcome and able to join the Monroe County YMCA Endurance Training group as long as an adult supervisor is present and available on the YMCA grounds. The adult (over the age of 18) can participate with the group (registration required) or other YMCA programming or be available on the YMCA grounds during training weekday sessions.
- During longer training session on Saturdays, the youth must have some form of communication with them (i.e., cellphone), unless the parent/adult supervisor is going to run/walk with them.
- Please note: no one gets left behind. With this said, it is impossible to have a Coach for every participant, but we try to have Coaches in between and with slowest participant.
- This program is designed to help the athlete improve running/walking economy through series of interval, tempo and incremental increase in time/mileage.
- Give encouragement to participants to be able to run/walk events of the lengths of 5K, 10K, 13 miles & 26.2 miles.
- Resistance training is incorporated weekly, specialized for runners and walkers.
- Program does not include half marathon or any other race registrations.

Summer Endurance 2025
- All levels of participants welcome; no one gets left behind
- Swimming instruction (stroke work, endurance, speed)
- Open water training swims
- Bike rides (safety, endurance, speed); weather permitting
- Walk/Runs (technique, pacing, endurance, speed)
- Walk/Run training lengths of 5K, 10K, 13 miles & 26.2 miles
- Bike training lengths of 10 miles, 20 miles, 30 miles+
- Resistance training weekly, specialized for endurance participants
Training days & times:
Mon – 6pm (Swim)
Tues – Walk/Run, 6-7:30pm
Thurs – Walk/Run, 6-7:30pm
Sat – Bike/Walk/Run, 8am (When weather gets hotter, we will meet at 7am on Saturdays)
